Ciwa holds 35th theology conference week

—March 23, 2026
From March 23–27, 2026,  one of the most intellectually exciting theological gatherings in West Africa will take place in Port Harcourt at the renowned Catholic Institute of West Africa.

This year’s conference, with the striking theme “Theology and Human Suffering in Contemporary Africa”, will draw scholars, lecturers, and researchers from across West Africa, with distinguished participants joining from outside the region. It is not just another conference; it is a rare intellectual convergence where bold ideas will be tested, difficult realities will be confronted,  methods will be contested, theories will be brewed and fresh theological scholarship will take shape in real time.

From 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily, the conference will feature stimulating academic sessions, powerful papers, rigorous discussions, and groundbreaking perspectives that speak directly to the realities of contemporary African life. For anyone interested in theology, philosophy, religion, communication or African studies, this is the one gathering you simply cannot ignore.

If distance or a tight schedule makes physical attendance impossible, you are still very much part of this important event. Special arrangements have been made to enable you to participate virtually and follow the sessions wherever you are.
